Hernan Justo began dancing in 1974 at the instituto Superior de Arte Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He joined the Ballet Estable del Teatro Colon in 1982 and then was invited to perform with the Ballet del Teatro Argentino de la Plata two years later.
His career then took him to the Ballet de Santiago of Chile in 1988 where he work with teachers and choreographers such as Gyula Pandi, Andree Prokovski, Ronald Hynd, Ivan Nagy, Lazlo Seregui, Jack Carter, Simon Motramm, among many others. and after three years to the Ballet Clasico de Camara in Caracas and Ballet Contemporaneo de Caracas, Venezuela where he worked with Kaleria Fedicheva, Nina Novak, Guiseppe Carbone to name a few. In 1992, Justo won the "Best Couple" award at the XV IInternational Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria, the most prestigious competition in professional ballet. He also was nominated as "best dancer of the Year" in 1992 by "Casa del Artista" in Caracas Venezuela and he has also won "Best Classical Interpretation" at the Prix Volinine in Paris, France.
Justo became a Principal Dancer with the North Carolina Dance Theatre(NCDT) in 1994 under the artistic direction of Salvatore Aiello and later world renowned Jean Pierre Bonnefoux, Patricia McBride, and Jerri Kumery. At NCDT he perform a wide range of ballets by several choreographers. By Balanchine The four Temperaments, Who Cares, Concerto Barrocco, Serenade, Allegro Brillante, by Alvyn Ailey Feast of Ashes, by Agnes de Mille Rodeo by Sal Aiello Turn of the Screw, The Nutcracker, Clown and Others, Journey, and by Alonzo King Map, Chants and Dreamer.
In 2000 he was invited to become Artistic Director of the Carolina Ballet Theatre(CBT). Since then Justo produced over 90 new productions for CBT from full lenghts ballet such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mirror Mirror, Black Swan, Jolly Roger, Arabian Nights. And other contemporary works like Pulling the Strings, Tangofusion, Tarde Flamenca, Unhinge, Preludes for a Farewell, A Tango for Angelina, among many others. Hernan is also a permanent guest teacher in several schools and ballet companies around the country. Mr Justo teaches the upper levels of School of Carolina Ballet Theatre and is responsible for CBT's summer intensive program SummerWorks and for all the productions that CBT presents every season. Mr Justo is married with Anita Sun Pacylowski and have three children Martin 22, Sofia 12 and Nicolas 10.
